Elvin “Shorty” Jackson, age 96 of Thorn Hill, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023. Elvin was a farmer and a deacon of Beech Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Thorn Hill, as well as a Veteran of World War II.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Nelson and Dorsie Jackson; sisters, L.C. Ritter and Rema Dale Acuff.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Bessie Acuff Jackson; son, Gary R. (Connie) Jackson; grandson, Mark Anthony Jackson; great grandchildren, Kailynn (Robert) Mitchell and Coy Jackson; great great grandson, Cash Mitchell; brother, William Nelson Jackson Jr (Mary Sue); and sister, Fawn Marie Cate.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his close friend and coworker, Clifton Harrell. A graveside service will be held at Hamblen Memorial Gardens on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers they family ask to give to a person in need.
