National Champion Debater
Alisa Osborne, a former student at All Saints Episcopal School and Morristown West High is a national champion. Alisa, a junior at Belmont University in Nashville and a member of Belmont’s Varsity Speech and Debate team, surpassed her goal of just qualifying for the nationals. She had hoped to make the quarterfinals when her school’s interscholastic team went to Pi Kappa Delta Tournament in Philadelphia in April fjor the first of two national competitions.
When the Philadelphia competition ended, Alisa had garnered a 3rd place finish in Duo Interpretation (with Aaron Kleinschmidt) and 5th place in Dramatic Interpretation. She finished that national tournament with an overall ranking as the 9th overall speaker in the nation. Alisa won the Tennessee State championship in Informative Speaking and in Duo to qualify for the national tournament.
Two weeks later, Alisa competed in the Asynchronous Speech Championship and finished as national champion in Informative Speaking beating out competitors at Western KY, University of Alabama and University of Illinois.
Alisa is the daughter of Edwin & Charley Osborne and the Granddaughter of Clara Osborne, formerly of Morristown. She was a 2-year member of the Forensics Team, trained by Suzanne Terry, when she attended Morristown West.
