Hamblen County Archives receives Community Service Award

The Samuel Doak Chapter NSDAR’s Community Service Awards Chairman Barbara Baker presented a National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Certificate and Medal to six volunteers of the Hamblen County Archives on April 24.

Diane Fox and Doris Stump have worked for the archives from 2002-2020; Blanch Murray has worked 2002-2022; Grace McGinnis has worked 2003-2020, Janet Campbell has worked 2003-present; and Steve Street has worked 2013-present.

Letters of recommendation for the six volunteers were written by Hamblen County Archives Director Cindy Lane and Carol Long, a patron of the archives for many years.

Long said that the ladies have cleaned documents, filed, and helped the people who visit the archives in their search for documents. Long recommended that these volunteers be honored for their work they have so unselfishly given to the Hamblen County Archives.

“Campbell and Street are always willing to take on any projects which will benefit the archives and its patrons,” Lane said. “They work tirelessly from home and throughout the county gathering and compiling information-working behind the scenes to provide much needed resources. Their contributions are invaluable.”
