Encore Theatrical Company’s 2023 season continues with the opening of The 39 Steps on Friday.

Adapted from the 1915 novel by John Buchan, this play follows a man retched from his boring life by a woman, a tragedy and a mystery.

Filled with intrigue, mistaken identity and twists at every turn, The 39 Steps is the perfect show for audience members looking for fun.

Director of the show, Wes Downing, is excited for the community to experience such a unique show.

“If you were to mix a Hitchcock film, a spy novel, and Monty Python you get The 39 Steps,” Downing said. “It’s really quite a fun show.”

The 39 Steps features a small cast of four actors with two understudies. ETC’s Creative Director, Candace Moore, says having a small cast makes this production even more impressive.

“They’re able to do so much with so few people,” Moore said. “It’s always impressive to see a small cast make you forget there are only four people in the whole show. They’re all so talented at what they do.”

Performances for The 39 Steps will run from May 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th at 7:30 p.m. and May 7th, 13th, and 14th at 2:30 p.m. The performance will be held at Prater Hall in the Rose Center, located at 442 W 2nd N St in Morristown.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at the door with cash.
