Samuel Doak Chapter Community Service Award Chairman Barbara Baker presented the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award to the Concerned Citizens for the Tennis and Pickleball Courts on April 19, 2023

Dr. Alpha Alexander, and County Commissioner Peggy Howell, members of the Concerned Citizens for Tennis and Pickleball Courts and City Councilwoman Kay Senter wrote letters of support for the nominees of the award.

The Concerned Citizens contacted members of City Council and also attended the council meetings to inform of the renewed interest in tennis and the growing sport of Pickleball.

They asked that Morristown’s last remaining courts at Frank Lorino Park be re-evaluated and then resurfaced as recommended by the Parks and Recreation Director.

The Concerned Citizens have also promoted interest in youth tennis and Pickleball with middle school leagues and elementary student clinics throughout the year.

This group’s interest and concern was the driving force in the process of successfully resurfacing the courts.

The entire community now benefits from their decision to become involved and to persist in their efforts to improve the courts at Frank Lorino Park for the enjoyment of tennis and Pickleball players today and in the future.
