The Chefs Workshop will bring a food truck rally to Downtown Morristown every Wednesday for the month of May.
The rally which begins tonight will be held at the Farmers Market each Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A rotation of 10 different local and out of town food trucks will stop by each week to offer the community a variety of tastes.
Dale Atkins, founder and owner of Chefs Workshop and the Food Truck Rally, is excited to bring this tasty event to Morristown.
“We are so thrilled to be bringing the rally to Morristown,” Atkins said. “We have already been to five different areas in East Tennessee and had great success, so we look forward to bring this event to Morristown.”
Atkins wants to assure the community that this is a family friendly event and encourages families to stop by.
“We want the community to know this is very family friendly event,” he said. “We will have games for kids to play with and tables, chairs and umbrellas for families to sit down and enjoy a meal.
“There will be no alcohol sold to ensure we keep the family friendly atmosphere at the rally.”
Atkins said there will be no carnival or snack foods sold at the rally, only full meals to enjoy.
“We will not have any trucks with carnival food, that’s not were looking for,” Atkins said. “We want families to be able to stop by and have a meal together and not worry about cooking, so each truck will have full meals available.”
Having new trucks come each week was a must for Atkins and an incentive for people to keep coming back.
“We try not to have repeats so each week you’re able to try something new and something delicious,” he said. “We want to give people an opportunity to try things they might normal be able to try. We have a seafood truck coming the first day that will sell seafood boils.”
Atkins’ goal is to make this rally a way for the community to come have a meal together.
“We have a little something for everyone, this is a chance for the community to come together have dinner with each other and connect with their neighbors.”
The trucks that will be present at the rally this evening are Smoked Pickle Barbecue, Knox Bun, Poynor’s Pommes Frites, Urban Table, Gohan Japanese Grill, Geno’s Crusty Crab, Panini Hotspot, Donut Theory, Myrtle’s Bakehouse and Southern Sips.
If you miss the rally this month, it will return to Morristown this fall for another culinary adventure.
“We hope that you load up the kids and the family and join in on a culinary adventure,” Atkins said.
