Memorial Day events planned

Memorial Day is an important time to stop and remember the sacrifices that have been made by our veterans and Hamblen County has a couple of opportunities for people to do just that.
This Saturday at noon the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1037 in Morristown will be placing flags on the veteran’s graves at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
Monday May 29th at 10:00 a.m. Hamblen Memory Gardens will be having their annual Memorial Day program.
Paul Chapman, a representative of Hamblen Memory Gardens says it is especially important within the community to take time to honor our veterans, “It’s absolutely important that we remember the freedoms that we enjoy came about because of the sacrifices our veterans have made. It’s important that we honor them annually”
The Memorial Day Program will take place at the Veteran’s Field of Honor where Air Force General Arnold Bunch (Ret.) will be the guest speaker and will speak about the importance of Memorial Day.
Cemetery staff will be available all day to assist with anyone who may have questions or need assistance locating a grave.
Following the program there will be free hotdogs, chips and drinks for people to enjoy.
