Early Saturday morning crews from all four Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a structure for in the Emerald Acres Subdivision in West Hamblen County, according to West VFD Captain Brad Richardson.

Richardson said units arrived within minutes to find a single family home with visible smoke and flames.

“A quick aggressive attack held the fire at bay. Operations would continue for nearly 3 hours to fully extinguish the blaze,” Richardson said. “No injuries were reported, and one occupant was assisted by the Red Cross.”

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Richardson thanked Morristown Hamblen EMS and Appalachian Electric Co-op for their response and assistance.
