Jefferson man sentenced to 74 years on child rape charges

A 63-year-old Jefferson County man was sentenced to 74 years in prison at 100 percent for two counts of rape of a child and one count of aggravated sexual battery, according to District Attorney General James Dunn’s office.
Circuit Court Judge Duane Sloan sentenced Billy Gene Sliger, 63, to sentences of 32 years each on the rape of a child charges and 10 years on the aggravated sexual battery charge.
Slone ordered the sentences to be served consecutively.
Sliger was convicted after a two-day trial in April, based on evidence he had sexual contact with an 11-year-old child on three separate occasions between June 2018 and June 2020
The Jefferson County Jury deliberated for over an hour before returning the verdict.
