Great Tennessee Yarn Tour set for August
F
Several regional yarn shops are joining together to bring a brand new fiber-filled event to East Tennessee called The Great Tennessee Yarn Tour.
The Yarn Tour will be an opportunity for fiber “tourists’’ to travel the open roads of East Tennessee and experience the fiber-rich culture of East Tennessee first-hand.
During three weeks in August, participants are encouraged to visit all 13 participating shops — stretching from Crossville to Kingsport — and discover each shop’s personality, flavor, and unique selection of yarns, crafts, and supplies.
Crocheters, dyers, felters, knitters, spinners, weavers, and fiber enthusiasts of all kinds will find something to delight and inspire them during this event.
The Great Tennessee Yarn Tour will take place August 4 – 27.
Tickets are on sale now through July 1.
Tickets can be purchased at the event website. .
Each ticket is $20 and includes a commemorative tote bag, two new patterns (one knit and one crochet), designed by Tennessee crafters specifically for the Tour, a printed guide book with Tour information, souvenirs and automatic entry into the Triple Grand Prize giveaway.
Tourists will also have exclusive access to Tour-only items and specials at each shop.
The 13 participating shops are:
● Appalachian Yarn Company – New Market
● Carriage House – Kingsport
● Chattanooga Yarn Company – Chattanooga
● Clinch River Yarn Company – Clinton
● Hook & Needle – Maryville
● Kudzu Cottage – Pikeville
● Loopville – Knoxville
● Mooney’s Market & Emporium – Monteagle,
● Smoky Mountain Spinnery – Gatlinburg
● Terri’s Yarns & Crafts – Sevierville
● Two Roots Alpacas – Greeneville
● Walther Handmade – Harriman
● The Yarn Patch – Crossville
During the Yarn Tour, each participating shop will be planning their own special events and activities – including trunk shows, extended hours, and door-prizes.
Exclusive yarns will be available in mini-skeins of 20 – 25g.
Tourists can build their own palette by picking up a skein at each shop they visit and then use these skeins to knit or crochet the 2023 Yarn
Tour patterns, resulting in a one-of-a-kind Yarn Tour souvenir.
