On Saturday July 8, 2023 at about 7 p.m. Hamblen County Sheriff Deputies responded to a shooting call on Marie St.

The caller identified himself to 911 dispatch as Charles Barbley and said that he had shot his wife.  

Upon arrival, deputies observed Barbely put the handgun on the front porch of his residence, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies found an unresponsive female inside the residence.

The victim, identified as Mickey Barbley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barbley was arrested and transported to the Hamblen County Jail. Charles Barbley was charged with First Degree Murder by the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office.
