The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown’s 42nd Annual Super Auction is set to take place on Saturday, August 12th, beginning at 10 a.m. at the club facility located on Sulphur Springs Road.

This year’s campaign has officially started with several really nice items already donated.

To help kickoff this year’s auction, longtime supporter David Wallace has donated a Tennis Court to be auctioned.

The tennis court is located on lot #24 in Lyn-Mar Estates Subdivision in Morristown (N. Fairmont Avenue).

According to Executive Director John Seals, “we are excited to be able to kickoff this year’s 42nd Annual Super Auction with this unique piece of property. David’s contribution is a great way to kickoff this year’s major fundraiser.”

In a little less than a month, the club facility will be transformed into an auction house with live auctioneers to help raise money to support the club’s over 1,000 deserving club members.

The Goal for the year’s Super Auction is set at $120,000. The proceeds from the annual fundraiser go towards the operating costs of running the club facility including utilities, insurance, staff wages/salaries and general expenses. Seals continued, “this is our biggest annual fundraising event and this year’s goal is a lofty one. In fact, it is the largest goal we have ever set for this event. We are once again asking our community to step up again to help support the club and our over 1,000 club members.”

Seals added, “We have been so blessed over the year’s to receive tremendous support from so many individuals, businesses and industries. Those who would like to support the club can donate an item or a service, make a cash contribution, donate a gift certificate or just pray for us.”

This year’s Super Auction Committee is made up of members of the Board of Directors who are charged with spearheading the event. The Auction Committee includes: Ritchie Broyles (lead auctioneer), Brett Williamson, Scott Shafer, Greg Von Cannon and Leroy Royston (who will lead the effort to encourage local car dealerships to donate vehicles for the “Cars for Kids” portion of the auction), David Wild, Logan Wild, Link Gibbons, Jeremy Menees, Leigh Sempkowski and Rudy Abate.

“We are so thankful for our Board Members who spend countless hours, both at the club and out in the community to rally support for our club and our programs,” Seals said. “And we owe a special thanks to our Super Auction Committee members who are putting it all together.”

Some of the club programs and activities offered annually includes: fun activities like swimming, basketball, fitness classes, the club’s competitive Swim Team, the TEENSupreme Center, after school tutoring and homework assistance, technology classes, reading programs, Career Launch, Project Learn, character and leadership clubs, swim lessons, arts/crafts classes, music classes, discovery trips, special holiday events, sports clinics, after school snacks, evening meals and so much more.

“We are asking the community for your support again this year. Please consider making a contribution to support the deserving kids and teens we serve. It truly takes a village to support our kids.”
