McDonald’s employee goes above and beyond for customer

When Jason Mosier was heading home from work back in June, he pulled into his regular McDonalds in Morristown to grab a bite to eat. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for Mosier, but what happened next certainly would be.

In an interview on Tuesday, Mosier said he had been experiencing difficulties with his debit card and had to have a couple of replacements. When he got to the counter to pay for his food order, he began having issues again.

“I told the boy waiting on me, his name was Haiden, to just void the transaction, but before I knew it, he took his own card out and said don’t worry about it sir, I’ve got it.”

Haiden Fultz, who is 16 years old, works part time at the McDonalds to earn extra money and says he is saving for an exhaust system.

Mosier said he was he was taken aback for a moment and didn’t quite know what to say.

“I thought to myself, well bless his heart. I looked in my wallet and I only had about four bucks in cash, but I tried giving it to him. I told him here take this and I’ll bring you the rest plus some more later. I didn’t want him to have to pay for my food,” Mosier said.

But Mosier said when he got to the car, he opened his bag of food only to find the four dollars in cash tucked into the bag with a hand written note on his receipt that read, have a blessed day.

“It made me tear up,” Mosier said.

Mosier, who manages a popular practical joke facebook group called FattyDaddy where he and his daughter do funny skits and pranks, said he felt compelled to go back into the store and ask for a selfie with the young worker so he could share his experience on social media.

“I wanted to give him some recognition for his kindness,” Mosier explained.

Mosier says Haiden obliged him with a selfie but neither one of them could have predicted what would happen next.

“It went viral,” Mosier said.

Immediately, thousands of people began sharing Mosier’s social media post and soon major networks began sharing Mosier and Haiden’s story, airing on networks such as Fox News and Newsmax.

Thousands of people have been praising the young boy for his kindness and generosity, but Haiden says it’s just who he is.

“I just want to spread kindness, it’s just who I am,” Haiden said.

Haiden went on to explain, “He seemed like he was having a bad day and I wanted to make his day better, so I decided to write him a little note to make his day better.”

Mosier says this experience has not only resulted in an unlikely friendship, but it has changed his perspective as well.

“This whole experience has taught me not to judge people, I’d really lost hope in this generation, I’d always thought they were so me, me, me, but this has restored my hope. To have a young kid like that, willing to pay because he saw a need, that speaks volumes.” Mosier said.

Haiden says the experience has had quite an impact on him as well.

“It feels crazy to be honest, my managers call me the celebrity,” Haiden said.

But beyond the excitement of going viral, Haiden says he’s grateful this can give people a deeper glimpse into his generation and see that they are more than meets the eye.

“This gives people a new perspective, they can see that teenagers aren’t all bad, we’re good too. We want to spread kindness.”

Mosier says he’s also grateful for this opportunity to spread positivity.

“He [Haiden] is a good humble kid. I think this felt good for people to see and it resonated with them because we are hungry for positivity in a world where we are constantly bombarded by negativity.”
