The long awaited and much anticipated Panda Express has officially opened in Morristown.

Panda Express is a fast-food chain that serves a variety of Chinese inspired dishes with popular favorites such as Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. The Morristown location makes the 46th Panda Express to open in Tennessee and the 4th location to open in upper East Tennessee.

Members of the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce along with Morristown Mayor Gary Chesney gathered at the new location to offer the new business a warm welcome into town, marking the special occasion with a ribbon cutting.

Chesney began the ceremony with congratulations and welcomed them to Morristown joking that they had better keep a good stockpile.

“Welcome to Morristown, you’re gonna be covered up for a long time. We’re going to be a real good party here, but if you run out of spring rolls then you’re on your own,” Chesney said.

Area Coach of Operations Alisia Dujenski, expressed her excitement for the Morristown location’s opening and says this has been anticipated by the Morristown community for a long time,

“I’m really excited to be here, I’ve been with the company 6 years, and for the first 5 of those years while I was the GM at the Bristol location, one question I was always asked was when is Panda going to be opening in Morristown?”

“I can finally say that we have a place here in Morristown. We’ve only been open for two days but the community has been great so far. We’ve already received $400 in donations for the Children’s Miracle Network. I look forward to doing a lot of fundraisers with the community,” Dujenski said.

Dujenski went on to say that their first two days of being open have been successful and as busy as expected. This is the first Panda Express location in Tennessee to boast a double drive through, and while there may be some learning curves to this new feature, she and her team are committed to ensuring the fastest service possible for their customers.

“The team has been working really hard I think we’ve had about 20-30 members on staff every single day so we look forward to continuing giving great customer service and hopefully increasing that drive thru speed. It’s our first time with a double drive thru in Tennessee,” Dujenski said.
