Off road driver crashes into substation, causes power outage

A driver going off road in a 4X4 truck behind the Callaway Substation near Callaway Drive cause a large power outage early Wednesday morning.
“We had someone go ballistic about midnight,” Morristown Utilities General Manager Jody Wigington said.
The driver of the 4X4 apparently hit a guide wire, launching the truck up, flipping it into MU equipment at MU’s largest substation.
The driver fled the scene.
Wigington said power was out for 1,730 for about two hours.
“He was behind the substation, rolled that thing up and the guidewire, flipped it over,” he said. “It didn’t cause a ton of damage but it caused a pretty good outage.”
