Whether it be enjoying a lovely afternoon at the tea room, painting pottery with friends, enjoying a drink after a long day at work, or simply shopping at the local gift shops, downtown Morristown is a beautiful district with much to offer and the cozy feel of family and community.
Main Street provides the perfect backdrop for holiday parades, festivals and so much more.
Morristown residents are proud of their developing downtown district and all can agree that choosing the perfect candidate for furthering the development is paramount to its success.
With that being said, Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce Natasha Morrison as the new Director of Downtown Development. She will begin her role on July 17.
Morrison is a former downtown business owner and comes into this new position with a rejuvenated sense of what this downtown district has to offer the Morristown community.
Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce General Manager Debra Williams says they couldn’t be more thrilled to name Morrison as the new director, citing her previous Chamber and small business experience as just as few of the many attributes she will bring to this position.
“She (Morrison) comes into this position with a good handle of being involved downtown as well as, she really understands Chamber work. She owned a business herself downtown and she has worked for the Jefferson County Chamber for a year,” Williams said.
Williams went on to say, “She has been through leadership Morristown and she has been really involved with the Chamber. She has a great grasp of working together with the Chamber and with the downtown and we are just really excited to have her come on board. She’s got a good feel for what it is to be a downtown business owner. “
Williams says that Morrison will be stepping into this position in the middle of summer activities, and while she will be overseeing events such as the Farmers Market and the concert series, she will also be striving to build relationships with business owners downtown.
“One of our biggest things is for her to meet merchants, every business owner and every building owner downtown and do a lot of listening. She said she wants to listen and learn and see what works and what people want to try.” Williams said.
“The vision and attitude she is bringing to this position is going to be a great asset for downtown,” Williams said.
Morrison is a talented visionary and says she cannot wait to begin serving the community in her new position.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to serve my community in this capacity. I look forward to applying my passion and experience to help further the growth in our beautiful downtown.” Morrison said.
