With the Boys and Girls Club of Morristown’s 42nd Annual Super Auction just around the corner on Aug. 12, donations are beginning to come in right and left.
“We are starting to build some momentum with so many folks making donations, committing items, services or even making monetary donations towards this year’s auction,” Executive Director John Seals said.
The most recent SUPER item donated is this 1927 Chevy Antique Truck by longtime supporters James and Cheryl Quackenbush.
“This is one of the coolest items we have ever had donated to our auction and should bring a lot of interest,” Seals said. “It is absolutely beautiful and runs great.
“We are so thankful and humbled by the Quackenbush’s continued support of our organization and the kids in our community.”
Some other items already committed include: a tennis court, several vehicles, furniture items, a 2006 Honda Ridgeline, Autograph sports memorabilia, bar stools, Handcrafted Knives by Jerry Dillard, lots of gift certificates and much more.
This year’s Super Auction will be held at the club facility at 311 Sulfur Springs Road beginning at 10 a.m. with a goal of raising $120,000.
The viewing for the auction will take place on Friday night, Aug. 11 beginning at 6 p.m.
The actual Super Auction will begin Saturday morning with items being auctioned inside from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Auction will move outside beginning at 1 p.m. for the larger items including the Antique Truck.
The auction will end after the last item is auctioned outside.
Other Auction highlights include a Gift Certificate table where folks can purchase gift certificates throughout the day from area restaurants and local businesses.
Concessions will be available including hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, chips sno cones and more.
“This is our largest fundraising event so we truly depend on our community to support us in raising such a large amount,” Seals said. “ Please mark your calendars to join us on Super Auction Day! We truly appreciate each and everyone in this community for supporting our organization.”
The money raised will go to support over 1,200 deserving members through programs like Head of the Class (after-school tutoring and homework assistance), Career Launch, the TEENSupreme Center, swim classes, swim team, mentoring, Family support classes/special events, leadership clubs, art classes, a choir, after-school snacks and meals, technology classes, sports clinics, a teen basketball league, job prep and placement, daily sports and fitness activities, team building and so many more.
