Correction: Reminders for families as the school year approaches
B
Hamblen County Students will return to school for a half-day on August 1st and there are a few reminders for parents and guardians.
County schools will be serving breakfast, but won’t be serving lunch on the partial day which counts as the first day of school.
The district encourages students to utilize the free breakfast that will be served at each school, as the district will not be serving lunch.
Students will return for their first full day of school on Thursday, August 3rd.
The Parent Portal Login address has changed. The system that allows parents to monitor their child’s schooling and see any district updates has a new URL. It is now accessed at HCBOE.POWERSCHOOL.COM.
The district asks families if they have saved or bookmarked the old URL for Parent Portal to make sure they are using the new site.
If families seek free or reduced lunches for their children they must fill out an application and be approved based on income status.
Hamblen County Schools encourage all families to apply regardless of if they assume they will be approved or not. Families can find the application on the Hamblen County School’s website.
If a student is on reduced lunch the cost per meal drops to 40 cents regardless of the grade level.
Hamblen County schools will continue to provide a free breakfast to students regardless of application status.
The free and reduced meal applications can be found on the school district’s website.
If you need assistance on completing the application or have any questions, contact the child’s school directly.
With children changing grades each grade requests different supplies needed for the school year.
