Demcor Inc., a full-service pallet manufacturer and recycling corporation owned and operated by Beverly and Ismail Menguc, located at 196 Highway 25 E, Newport purchased Lakeway Pallets, a neighboring pallet company also operating in Newport.

Lakeway Pallets has a legacy lasting 53 years in Cocke County.

The acquisition by Demcor Inc. was completed on August 10.

The President Ismail Menguc says “from its founding days, Demcor Inc. remains committed to environmental conservation efforts through sustainable management of lumber resources. Fifty percent of the businesses’ activity consists of recycling used pallets; the other half of the operation produces new pallets from new lumber. Greater than eight million pounds of pallets will be recycled and repurposed for other use annually, thereby freeing local landfills while reducing the need to cut down as many trees. Demcor Inc. will always do its part to protect the planet as our timber and wood resources are precious to mankind going forward.’’

The acquisition will increase the capability and capacity of Demcor Inc. to provide enhanced, flexible customer service with world-class pallets to its mature and growing customer base at a lower cost resulting in better value.

Beverly Menguc, Demcor Inc.’s CFO says, ‘‘our company is excited and immediately preparing to expand and broaden its market share via new equipment purchases, additional production space with increased technological capabilities by our seasoned, dedicated, professional labor force in all three facilities.

“Demcor Inc.’s goal is to move our customers’ goods and products reliably and successfully and we are well positioned to move the world.’’
