Eat N’ Greet returns to new location

The Eat N’ Greet, a food truck gathering, will return August 12 to a new location.

The event that aims to be a food truck matchmaker will be set up at Morristown’s Farmers Market from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

This particular event will include 28 food trucks varying from sweets to savory treats for the Lakeway Area to try.

The event is sponsored by GrillBilly Smoke and the Fiver Rivers Food Truck, a new organization dedicated to connecting food truck owners with others in the business.

Bill Hall, owner of GrillBilly Smoke, described his excitement at the return of the event and the new location.

“We are at a different place and we are so excited to bring it back,” Hall said. “When we had it at Lowe’s in the spring, we had an amazing turnout but because of the limited support we were gridlocked in.

“We thank Lowe’s for partnering with us and allowing us to use their space and we are excited to bring it to Downtown Morristown.”

With the new location this means more trucks and more community support.

“At the last event we had so much community support,” Hall said. “We had thousands of people come out last time and we hope that more people come out at this event.

“We had around 15 trucks come out at the last event and as of right now we have 28 scheduled to be at this one so we have a lot more variety compared to the previous one.”

Several trucks who attended the previous event will return, but there will be many new eateries set up. The trucks include: GrillBilly Smoke, OhNuts Donuts, Panini HotSpot, Donut Theory (GF), Big Al’s Bent Creek BBQ, 911 Cookies, Belly Deli, PuertroRican Smoke, Bite Me Bistro, Happy Hiker Coffee, Raspasdos Cancun, Cake by the Lake, Sno Crazy, Hungry Checz, Island Vibe Grill, Papa’s Seafood Shack, Rasta Pasta, Southern Yankee Gyros, Dips IceCream, Floyd’s Snack Shack, The Mexican Taco Truck, Cookie Dough Bliss, The Savage Gypsy, Bubba Q, Crave Food Truck, Squeezin C’s, Myrtles Bakehouse, Bufords Burgers and Spuds.

Hall explained the difference that can be seen when comparing the two events.

“I had told trucks to have a sample menu so that way people could try more than one food truck,” Hall said. “However, what happened was people ended up buying full meals and most trucks sold out of food only hours into the event. This time all trucks are aware of the demand and are prepared to feed the big crowds.

“Also last go around people criticized the long lines that each truck had, with the increased amount of trucks at this event we hope the lines will be shortened drastically.”

Although there are several key differences between the two events, one thing remains true, Hall hopes this event is able to match people with food trucks in the area.

“Just like the last event we hope to make this a matchmaking event,” Hall said. “We want to connect the community with the great food trucks in the area.

“So many times people drive by food trucks and don’t pay any attention to them but what they don’t realize is they are missing out on some of the best food ever.

“Many owners put their heart and soul into their food and they get overlooked because people choose to eat at a sit down establishment. We hope this event can bring awareness to the many trucks around here.”

Hall explained how the previous event helped spread the word about their businesses.

“At the last event I had several trucks come up to me and said that they had customers who found them after the event was over and told them they missed the truck at the Eat N’ Greet but they wanted to try them out so they found them in the community,” he said. “That’s what we’re after helping connect customers to food trucks.

“We also had a truck at the event which is now set up at Dollywood because they were featured in the paper and also because they serve delicious food. So the event is everything we hoped for.”

With upcoming next greet happening next Saturday, Hall encourages the community to stop by and show their support.

“We hope everyone comes out and brings their friends and families to enjoy this fun and delicious event.”
