Trojan Talk – Getting ready for homecoming

Welcome everyone to the fifth Trojan Talk of the school year.
This Wednesday, progress reports will be ready as we will have finished one quarter of this semester!
Time is flying and soon enough, Winter Break will be right around the corner!
First of all, congratulations to all of the females elected in this year’s 2023 Morristown West football homecoming court! The freshmen girls elected are Kiara Almonte escorted by Ashton McDonald and Kara Dyke escorted by Jake Bunch. The sophomore girls elected are Grace Ross escorted by Andrew Gal and Haven Simpson escorted by Julian Sexton. The junior girls chosen are Stacy Hernandez escorted by Ty Cooper and Nevaeh Pineda escorted by Luis Pineda. The senior girls voted for are Des Adams escorted by Stephen Connor Simms, Claire Bolton escorted by Shawn Ehret, Haley Cabe escorted by Drew Cook, Ava Cavallucci escorted by Gracyn McClanahan, Savannah Farmer escorted by Jaiden Carmichael, Melanie Gal escorted by Chase Simmons, Bianca Gama Dos Santos escorted by Halston Lee, Maritza Guzman Beltran escorted by Ian Roblero, Raylie Lykens escorted by Kyan Almonte, Audreonna McCullough escorted by Aidan McCauley, Delaney Miksa escorted by Eli Morrison, Chloe Seal escorted by Philip Lotivio, and Isabella Swanson escorted by Pierre Novus.
The Court will be presented to the Student Body during the Pep Rally on Thursday, Sept. 7 and again at halftime of the football game on Friday, Sept. 8 when one of the seniors will be crowned as Homecoming Queen.
Homecoming week is Sept. 5 -8, and it’s time to start planning for the dress-up days! There’s no school that Monday for Labor Day, Tuesday will be Anything But A Backpack, Wednesday will be Pajama Day, Thursday will be Rhyme Without A Reason, and Friday will be Trojan Nation Day.
Any club, team, or organization at West High that is interested in participating in the Homecoming Parade or Tailgate Breakfast, please contact Ms. Cobb, Mrs. Patrick, or a member of the Student Council today!
PhotoGenius will be coming back on Monday, August 28 to finish taking portraits of the freshmen, sophomore, juniors and any faculty and staff that we were not able to get to on Tuesday. Any senior that needs portraits taken will need to go to the PhotoGenius studio. We will ONLY take pictures of those students that did not have theirs taken Tuesday.
The first business club meeting of the school year will meet Monday, Aug. 28 in Mrs. Patrick’s classroom after school. This club comprises FBLA & DECA. Participate in business competitions, travel to state and national conventions, serve our community, and meet friends.
The first art club meeting will be on Friday, Sept. 1 after school. To join, you must join the google classroom with the code posted outside Mrs. Helton’s room (528). The code will also be on Facebook.
The Counseling Office will have a Senior Night for Seniors and Parents of Seniors on 9/21/23 starting at 5 p.m. We will have Jostens, Yearbook, college and military reps, and an information portion that night.

Important information, links, surveys, etc. are posted there from Student Council, Yearbook, Newspaper, and other clubs/organizations at our school. Don’t miss anything important!
Last of all, now sports! Aug. 28, West has a golf match at The Country Club at 4:00 p.m.. On Aug. 29. West has a Volleyball match at Sevier County High School at 5:00 p.m., and a Soccer game at South Doyle High School at 6:30. Aug. 31, West has a Volleyball match with the Fighting Cockes at 5:00 p.m., and a soccer game at Grainger County at 5:30 p.m.. Friday Sept. 1, West will face off against Tennessee High in an away football game.
