Arts in the Park – Annual fall event to move Downtown

B

The Rose Center, Morristown Arts Association and the city’s Parks and Recreation department are coming together to host an Arts in the Park event on Sept. 16 of which vendor applications are currently open.

Arts in the Park boasts no admission fee for this year’s event which will be located Downtown on the lawn next to the Morristown farmers market.

The event will showcase fine art, painting, sculpture, artistic photography, arts and crafts as well as several food vendors. It is about the celebration of visual arts, specifically centered on artists local to Hamblen County and the surrounding area.

Children’s activities will be offered, making the event family-friendly.

Applications are currently open for vendors and can be obtained by contacting Peggy Brewer at 423-312-8325 or Jennifer Gentry at 423-586-0260.

When applying, an artist must send in three photos of their work with name and address on each photo.

The event is juried meaning that at any point, the panel of authority in charge of the event may exclude or reject any artwork that does not meet certain entry criteria.

The artist who wishes to be a part of Arts in the Park must showcase two-dimensional art, written work, jewelry/wood/clay/pottery pieces or computer-generated art.

The purpose of the celebration is to give praise and recognition to local, rising artists.

Is it because of this that automatic disqualifications include being affiliated with commercial agents, dealers or manufacturers.

Sept. 1 is the deadline for vendor application, cancellation and the date by which a vendor’s notice of acceptance to participate must be given.

More details about vendor rules are available on the Morristown Art Association website.

Individuals interested in applying to be a vendor may also stop by the same site to download and print an application.
