Omar Ray Holt
Omar Ray Holt took his last breath with family at his bedside on August 17, 2023, after a battle with Leukemia.
Omar was born November 20, 1942, in Morristown, TN to Omar and Katherine Holt.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia, of 46 years, and brother-in-laws, Greg McGee and Billy Dominy.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in law, Billy and Anna Holt and grandchildren, Tim and Alena Holt all of Baytown, TX; brother-in-laws, Wayne (Ruby) McGee of Maynardville, TN and Don (Bonnie) McGee of Richmond, TX; sister-in-laws, BJ Dominy of Port St. John, FL and Judy McGee of Morristown, TN; nephews, Michael McGee, Eric and Wade Nolan, and Shawn Jones and nieces, Dena McGee and Ashton McGee; special friends, Glen and Suzanne Odom and Brandon Atherton.
Omar was a resident of Hemphill, TX, but he lived in Highlands, TX for many years. In his early career, Omar worked for American Enka in Tennessee.
He later transitioned to Daniel Construction which ultimately brought him and his family to Texas. For the majority of his career, he worked for HB Zachry until he retired from his role as an area manager.
While with HB Zachry, he predominately worked in TX, but he traveled where needed from California to Florida and Puerto Rico. Omar most enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors and cooking.
He loved to agitate to get a laugh out of those around him.
Friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, with a memorial sharing around 6:30, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Sterling-White Funeral Home located at 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562. Burial will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Sterling-White Cemetery in Highlands, TX.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Tim Holt, Brandon Atherton, Don McGee, Ron Stasney, Curtis Rucker, Roger Webb, and Ralph Wilson.
Special thanks to Don McGee and Ron Stasney for frequently chauffeuring Omar to his treatments in Lufkin and to the care team at St. Luke’s Infusion Center in Lufkin, most especially Meredith.
Omar was grateful for the care and attention given him by the St. Luke’s team. You brought him joy and brightened his day while in your presence.
It comforted him to know that the team would take time upon his return to tend to any special issues or concerns which arose while he was away.

The family is grateful for the compassionate hospice care given by Hospice in the Pines Inpatient Unit in Omar’s final hours and for allowing the family to stay at the Joe W. Elliott House.
