Trojan Talk – Three inducted into Trojan Hall of Fame

Welcome back to the 7th Trojan Talk of the year. I hope everyone had a successful Homecoming week full of fun and dressing up! Thank you to everyone for participating and making this one of the best spirit weeks ever!
Congratulations to the three alumni that have been recently inducted into the Trojan Army hall of fame. These inductees include William Hardin who graduated in 1992, Bridget Michele Graves who graduated in 1993, and Logan Whiteside who graduated in 2007.
Anyone who wishes to play tennis this year needs to report to the Country Club on Sept.12 at 3:30 – 5:00.
If you have received a Beta invitation and are interested in joining, your $50 membership payment is due to either Mrs. Owens or Mrs. Wice by September 13th. AFJROTC will also have their pictures taken on that day.
Friday Sept. 15, Freshmen and Sophomores will have their TNN club fairs. During TNN, Jostens will also be coming to the school to talk to Juniors about class rings.
As the year goes by and graduation ticks closer and closer for many students, they should consider trying to apply for as many scholarships as possible to help them out in the future for college. Some of the scholarships include:
Elk Nation Foundation MVS Scholarship- Each year the Elks National Foundation awards 500 “Most Valuable Student Scholarships’’ ranging from $4,000 a year to $50,000 a year. Any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen may apply for an MVS scholarship.
Applications will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Visit the website here for details and access to the application.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship- is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nation’s best four-year colleges and universities. College Scholars receive up to $40,000 per year, college planning support, ongoing advising, and the opportunity to network with the larger JKCF Scholar community. Learn more and apply online here.

John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest- students in grades 9-12 are eligible to participate. All students must register online here. This website has a complete list of guidelines.

In Trojan athletics this week, the Lady Soccer team will have two home matches. Tuesday they will face Volunteer High School at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday they will play Sevier County at 6:30 p.m.
Good luck to the men’s and women’s golf teams this week. Monday, Sept 11 they play at Sevier at 4:00 p.m. while Thursday they face Cherokee at 4:00 p.m. at McDonald Hills.
The varsity football team will play Greeneville away this Friday at 7:00 p.m. Good luck to the J.V. football team as they face Daniel Boone Sept. 11.
