$5K reward offered for Anderson County fugitive

A suspect in an Anderson County murder was spotted in Claiborne County Tuesday, leading authorities on a pursuit that ended in Virginia near the Cumberland Mountain State Park.

The United States Marshals Service is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information which leads to the apprehension of fugitive Jason Dockery.

Dockery, age 44, is a suspect in a murder that occurred in the 200 block of Moores Gap Road in the Heiskell area of Anderson County Tuesday. Dockery is also wanted for a probation violation out of Sevier County.

Dockery was spotted Tuesday travelling through Claiborne County and fled from the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department into Virginia.

The pursuit ended in Ewing, VA just across the Tennessee state line near the Cumberland Mountain National Park.

Agencies involved in the fugitive investigation include the U.S. Marshals for the Eastern District of Tennessee Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force (Knoxville and Greeneville offices); the Western District of Virginia and the U.S. Marshals Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force; the Lee County, Virginia Sheriff’s Department; the National Park Service; DCR/Virginia State Parks Law Enforcement Rangers; and the Virginia State Police.

Dockery is a very dangerous individual and is believed to be armed,” said David G. Jolley, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee. “He has a substantial prior criminal history in the Knoxville area and has served time in the Tennessee Department of Corrections. Most of his ties appear to be to Knox, Sevier, and Anderson Counties.”

Dockery is a white male, approximately 5’ 6” inches tall, and weighs approximately 170 pounds.
