Jennie Morris (nee Britton)

Jennie Morris (nee Britton) long standing resident East Tennessee and Naples, Florida, passed away August 8, 2023, age 89.

Preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Jerry Morris; parents Jay and Bobbie, sister Bobbie. Survived by daughters Teri and Leslie, grandchildren Mitch, Leigh, and Jen; great grandson Dreis; numerous nieces and nephews.

Honored graduate Morristown (TN) High School and Baroness Erlanger Nursing School (now Univ of Tennessee); Master’s Health Care Administration Florida International University. Jennie was Director of Nursing, later Senior Vice President of Patient Care Naples Community Hospital; nursing leadership Oak Ridge, Knoxville, and Morristown TN medical centers.

Numerous honors inclusive Tennessee Healthcare Administrator of the Year 1998; Fellow in the American College of Hospital Administrators; adjudicated strategic healthcare industry projects. Accomplished athlete: high school and college basketball; Masters running including international Track & Field competition; early 1980s marathon competition leading to addition of the women’s marathon to Summer Olympic Games.

Talented dancer: ballet, jazz, tap; local performances as a child in East Tennessee.

Avid equestrian, devoted lifetime leadership “Riding High, Inc” therapeutic riding program: foundation, facilities, and volunteer contributions.

Family and friends are invited to join Pastor Dani Castillo, Broadway United Methodist Church, Maryville TN, Saturday September 16th, 4-6 p.m., as we celebrate Jennie’s life.
