Boys & Girls Club of Morristown Offers Swimming Lessons, Water Aerobics, Open Swim

F

The Boys & Girls Club of Morristown will offer several opportunities to get wet this fall and into 2024.

The club will offer Swim Lessons beginning in October. The two-week long classes will be from 5:30 – 6:30PM Monday through Thursday. A parent/guardian must call or come by to sign their child up for the class. There will be a $10 pool fee for each class. Once the student completes the class the $10 fee will be returned. Parents may attend the first and last nights of the class.

All boys and girls ages 7-18 are welcome to attend the classes. Each child must be a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown to participate in the lessons. The membership fee is $10 for children ages 7-12 and $15 for 13–18 year-olds. New members must sign up the week prior to the first day of lessons. The membership allows full use of the club and its facilities. The swim lesson schedule is as follows:

Level I & II October 17 – 26

Level I & II November 6 – 16

Level I & II January 22 – February 7

Level I & II February 19 – 29

Level I & II March 11 – 21

Level III April 8 – 18

Open swimming for club members will be offered Monday through Friday from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Young people are not the only ones who can benefit from the pool at the Boys & Girls Club. There is a water aerobics class for senior men and women ages 50 and older. The class begins on September 18th and will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m.

Participants are not required to know how to swim. The less structured class allows clients to work at their own pace. The goal of the senior aerobic class is to help participants maintain or increase muscle strength and restore flexibility. The buoyancy of the water makes a safe, ideal environment for relieving arthritis pain and stiffness. If needed, there is a lift-chair for entering and exiting the pool.

The water aerobics classes are $3 per session and are taught by Dee Hendershot. Participants will use the rear entrance for the class off Rosedale Avenue. Space for the class is limited. A waiting list will be created for later scheduled classes.

For more information about either swim lessons or water aerobics, contact the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown at 423-586-2331.

The Boys and Girls Club of Morristown is a United Way of Hamblen County participating agency.
