Not much went wrong for Morristown East in its 62-26 District 1-4A Championship win over Science Hill on Monday night.

The top-seeded Lady ‘Canes forced a running clock entering the fourth quarter en route to its second straight district tournament title.

After leading just 12-8 after the first quarter, tournament MVP Hannah Hall went nuclear and scored all 16 of her team’s points.

Hall scored 23 points in the first half, outscoring the Lady ‘Toppers by herself as the Lady ‘Canes led 28-13. Hall finished with a career-high 32 points.

From there, East turned a cushion into a blowout in the third quarter.

Freshman Kennady Phillips followed in her senior co-star’s footsteps by dropping 17 of her 22 in the third quarter as the Lady ‘Cane 

East cleared its bench and coasted to the win with running clock in the final quarter.
