Back from the snow break
M
With the snow behind us, let’s celebrate a bright week with basketball homecoming week and several Trojan accolades.
Thanks to all who attended the winter formal Saturday night.
This Sunday night, alumnus Petty Officer 1st Class Braxton Smithson will fly over the Super Bowl in Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 97 that he maintains. The Trojan nation is proud of our former graduate who serves in the Navy fighting for our country. Also, congratulations to Ms. Leslie Jones for being nominated as one of the Citizen Tribune educators of the week.
Last week, was principal celebration week. Even though we had snow days, we honor Mr. Jeff Kinsler, Mr. Calvin Decker, Mrs. Carrie Chambers-Clowney, and Dr. Alvin Sanders for their dedication in improving the lives of students and staff. Thank you for your service!
Due to the missed days and rescheduled basketball games this week, we are moving our Homecoming to next week.
Same events, same plans, new week!
The only thing that has not changed is the Dance this past Saturday. Monday, Feb. 9, dedicated to Pajama Day, followed by Tuesday, Feb. 10, with Parent-themed BBQ Dads & Soccer Moms dress-up and the highly anticipated Teachers vs. Students basketball game during TNN. Wednesday, Feb. 11, brings the high-energy Pep Rally and Inside Out Day, where Freshmen should wear purple for Fear, Sophomores green for Disgust, Juniors blue for Sadness, Seniors yellow for Joy, and Teachers red for Anger. The momentum continues Thursday, Feb. 12, for Trojan Nation Day, featuring the Homecoming King vote during TNN and the formal crowning ceremony at that evening’s basketball games. We wrap up the festivities on Friday, Feb. 13, with the creative chaos of Anything But A Backpack Day.
Love is in the air as we celebrate Valentines Day this week. Valentine orders are still open, and we have added a new option! Choir is offering $5 mystery bags of chocolate and scented pencils that will be delivered with a jingle sung by choir members.
If you haven’t placed your order yet, visit bit.ly/valentine26 to do so before things sell out! We are selling roses, candy, drinks, cards, and so much more.
In club news, FBLA will meet in Mrs. Patrick’s classroom after school Monday. FCA will be meeting on Feb. 10 in the library at 7:30 a.m.
In sports news, FX basketball will be played at Dobyns-Bennett High School on Feb. 9. Feb. 12, the school will host games against Sevier County featuring the Junior Varsity Boys (JVB), Varsity Girls (VG), and Varsity Boys (VB) teams, as well as a home FX basketball game against East High. Finally, all teams will travel to compete against East High on Feb. 13.
Homecoming week is often remembered as the funnest time for students.
Wear your pajamas to school Monday and dress up the rest of the days. Support the basketball teams and vote for your favorite homecoming contestant. Go Trojans!
