Multiple agencies battle large forest fire in Blaine area

Firefighters from across Grainger County and neighboring Knox County worked for hours Saturday, February 14 to contain a large forest fire in the Blaine community, responding under mutual aid to protect homes, property and the surrounding countryside.

The Bean Station Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist the Blaine Volunteer Fire Department as crews faced difficult terrain and challenging conditions while working to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters focused on containing the spread of the fire and safeguarding nearby structures.

Additional support came from Grainger County EMS, Rutledge Volunteer Fire Department, Tennessee Division of Forestry and Rural Metro Fire. The coordinated response highlighted the importance of interagency cooperation, particularly during large scale incidents that require manpower, equipment and specialized resources.

Fire officials noted that forest fires can spread quickly, especially during dry conditions, making rapid response and teamwork critical. Crews remained on scene until the fire was contained and the area secured.

Residents are encouraged to use caution with outdoor burning and to report any signs of smoke or fire immediately to 911.
