Claiborne man indicted for Fetal Homicide in Kentucky
A Claiborne County man wanted in three states was indicted February 6 and arrested Sunday for First Degree Fetal Homicide.
According to a release from the Bell County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Office, Taylor C. Dehart, 35, was charged with First Degree Fetal Homicide by intentionally causing the death of an unborn child by allegedly repeatedly abusing the pregnant mother. Dehart is alleged to have inflicted blunt force trauma to her abdomen and placental abdomen, resulting in the death of the unborn child.
Det. Hunter Lutrell, of the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, presented evidence to the Bell County Grand Jury, which returned a true bill on February 6, indicting Dehart.
At 6 a.m. Friday, the United States Marshals Service Eastern District of Kentucky; Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force London Office; along with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office; USMS Eastern District of Tennessee; Smoky Mountain Fugitive Task Force Knoxville Office; Blount County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and K9 Units; Middlesboro Police Det./Lt. Barry Cowan; and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, conducted an enforcement operation as a result of fugitive investigation on the 100 block of Antler Drive in Cumberland Gap.
As a result of that operation, Dehart was taken into custody without incident. Dehart was not only wanted regarding the indictment warrant, but also for Failure To Appear for Fourth Degree Assault, two Kentucky Department of Corrections – Probation Violations, and by the State of Georgia Department of Community Supervision for a Probation Violation on original charges of Armed Robbery.
Dehart was transported to Claiborne County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Bell County, Kentucky.
