The Lakeway Area was set to get rain Wednesday evening until Thursday morning when the rain was to change to snow. Little to no accumulation is expected before ending Thursday evening.
According to the National Weather Service, a low-pressure system was set to continue bringing rain and thunderstorms across the South and Southeast Wednesday, with light wintry precipitation in the Mid-Atlantic. Passages of frontal systems will bring periods of light to locally moderate snow for the Great Lakes Thursday and into Friday.
A low-pressure system currently located on the Gulf Coast will continue to bring rain and thunderstorms to the Southeast, and light wintry precipitation to the Mid-Atlantic. Relatively warm water temperatures in the Gulf will continue to be transported into the Southeast and will support widespread precipitation through Thursday morning. Meanwhile, a front over the Mid-Atlantic will be supported by colder air coming from the Great Lakes, bringing light snow and wintry precipitation in southern Virginia and North Carolina.
Precipitation associated with this system is expected to subside in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic by Thursday afternoon, with the exception of Florida, where precipitation will continue until the overnight hours.
Behind the system, mostly clear skies will return to much of the eastern U.S., with frigid temperatures expected to move back in. Temperatures in the single digits and teens are forecast by Thursday morning from the Ohio Valley to much of the Northeast.
