Will DesGroseilliers was unstoppable in the fourth quarter at Science Hill. He scored 13 of his 18 points on the night and capped it off with a game-winning layup with 1.2 seconds left as the Trojans took down Science Hill, 58-56.
While DesGroseilliers was working to get his rhythm, Jamere WIlliams and Jake Bunch powered West through the first three quarters. Both had all of their points in the first three frames, and Williams finished with a team-leading 19 points and Bunch with 12.
With the win, the Trojans swept the Toppers in the regular season and locked in the No. 2 seed in District 1-4A with a 5-1 clip.
The matchup was a close one all throughout with West taking a 14-10 lead after one thanks to eight from Williams. However, the Toppers stormed back with a 22-point second quarter to lead 32-25 at the half. Stephen Hensley scored 13 of his game-leading 24 points in the quarter.
The Trojans trimmed the Science Hill lead to 46-42 to end the third and set up DesGroseilliers fourth-quarter takeover.
Anderson Noe drilled a three in the quarter, and DesGroseilliers took West the rest of the way, scoring 13 of his squad’s 16 in the quarter. A brief run to open the quarter put West in control, but Science Hill fired back and nearly took a one-point lead. However, Hensley missed his only free throw in 10 attempts to keep it tied at 58, setting up DesGroseilliers game-winner.
The Trojans will be back in action with a non-conference game at Powell.
