East, West compete in Holston Connect High Speed track meet at Cherokee

Morristown East and West took part in the Holston Connect High Speed meet at Cherokee on Tuesday.
East took first in two events (both girls), while West finished first in 15 events (11 boys, four girls).
East saw first-place finishes in the 4×100-meter girls relay with a time of 52.63 seconds, and Ashley Sadlon won the girls long jump at 14-feet, 9.5 inches. Riley Dabbs finished second in the boys’ 400, and Sam Altizer was second in the girls’ triple jump at 31-feet, seven inches. The Boys’ 4×400 team also had a third-place finish at 3:57.42.
For West, Lexi Massengill took first in the 100-meter dash at 13.42 seconds, and she was second in the 200 at 28.51 with Jamyia Woods taking home third at 28.7.
West also saw first-place finishes from Kyra Couch in the 1,600 (1:06.18) and Abbigail Knight in the 3,200 (12:52.65). Kennedie Couch finished right behind Knight to take second.
Payton Barnes was second in the 800 and third in the 400. Rylee Hurst added another first place finish on the girls side in the 300-meter hurdles, and she was second in the 100. To round the girls up was Jamyia Woods (long jump), Bella Webb (triple jump qand pole vault) and Brylee Livesay (shot put), all of whom finished third in their respective events.
On the boys side for West, Matthew Victory took first in the 100 (11.13) and the 200-meter (23.04) dashes, along with winning the long jump (22-feet, three inches). Johnny Rivera took first in the 800 (2:03.52). William Roberts took first in the 3,200 (10:44.97) and second in the 1,600 (4:56.23)
Jayden Howard swept the 110 (14.95) and 300-meter (38.71) hurdles with first-place finishes.
In the relays, the West boys won the 4×800 (9:01.90) and the 4×400 (3:50.40). The 4×100 team took second, and the 4×200 took third.
To round out a long list of first-place finishes for the Trojans, Noah Cupp took first in the high jump (5-feet, 10 inches), and Malachi Monroe won shot put (42-feet, 10 inches). Ladarion Rabion was also second in the triple jump.
