The 2026 high school baseball season kicked off on Monday. Here is a look at scores around the area:

Morristown West 6, Cocke County 2

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third with two outs, brothers Collin and Connor Rouse sparked a 6-2 season-opening win on Monday evening.

Connor, a senior, hit a two-out RBI triple and was sent home by his freshman brother Collin to give West a 2-1 lead it wouldn’t relinquish.

The Trojans held a 3-2 advantage until the top of the second when Noah Smith scored on an error, Collin Rouse hit an RBI double and also scored on an error to set the final score. The two sides played again on Tuesday.

Cherokee 7, Morristown East 3 (10 innings)

East collected 10 hits but only drove in three runs in a 7-3 loss in extras to Cherokee on Monday.

Connor Southerd and Ethen Kyle each had a pair of hits and accounted for all of Easts RBIs. Down 3-0, Southerd hit a 2-RBI single and Kyle followed with an RBI single of his own.

The sides stayed knotted at 3-3 until the top of the tenth inning, when the Chiefs scored two on a single and another pair on a wild pitch, but East couldn’t get any runs in the bottom of the frame.

Greeneville 10, Jefferson County 0 (5 innings)

Greene Devils’ pitcher Will Harmon pitched a 10-strikeout no-hitter to open the season, finishing the Patriots off in five innings, 10-0.

All but one player for Greeneville that had an at-bat got a hit and an RBI.

Despite the shutout, the Patriots were able to keep it at 10-0 until a 9-run fifth inning forced the run rule.

Tennessee 7, Lakeway Christian 6 (8 innings)

Lakeway Christian jumped out to a 5-0 lead in Bristol but couldn’t finish the job in a season-opening loss to Tennessee High.

Chase Gockenbach got the Lions started with a solo shot in the third, and 2-RBI singles from both Bryson Allen and Chase Gregory made it 5-0. However, a five-run bottom of the sixth for the VIkings tied it up. Lakeway retook the lead with a sac fly, but Tennessee High hit a walk-off 2-RBI double in the eighth to seal it.
