‘No Kings’ rallies to

take place Saturday in Morristown, Newport

There will be two “No Kings” rallies to take place in the Lakeway Area this weekend.

The “No Kings” rallies, to protest policies of the current presidential administration, will be held from noon to 2 p.m. in front of Morristown-Hamblen High School East and is sponsored by the Hamblen County Democratic Party.

Another rally will also be held in Cocke County in front of the Cocke County Courthouse, located at 111 Court Avenue in Newport.

According to a release from Hamblen County Democratic Women Chairman Jen Lavin, millions of Americans across the country and around the world will take to the streets to reject the current administration’s “brutality at home and abroad.”

The Newport rally is being held to support the Cocke County Democratic Party.

The release said that these rallies remind people who feel isolated or discouraged that they are not alone.

“Right now, people are being squeezed from every direction — rising costs for health insurance, food, gasoline — none of it matching what was promised.

Showing up tells our neighbors: we see you, we hear you, and you belong with us,” the release said.
