The Work Begins: Peavine Alley to briefly close as work begins to bring BBQ style restaurant downtown

The right kind of smoke will be present in downtown Morristown when Cattleman’s Corner Barbecue opens as the first project developed for the old Parks-Belk building property.

The north section of Peavine Alley will be closed from March 23 through March 25 according to a post by the City of Morristown as the first bit of work begins on the project.

As part of the development/hotel/spa/restaurants from developer Kenny Noah, and located at 114 W. Main Street in Morristown across from 1907 Brewing Company, the just announced restaurant is expected to serve Texas style barbecue.

“The building is in really good shape and will be the fastest to bring up to code and get open,” Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce Direc

tor of Downtown Development Natasha Morrison said. “It’s going to be family-friendly with a rustic, western vibe (like the other coming projects at the Corner).”

Just purchased earlier this month, Noah has already had a team of engineers and architects working on the project as he optimizes and finalizes plans, but the barbecue restaurant looks like it’s going to open first.

Texas barbecue staples like brisket, ribs and more will be on the menu that will include personal touches.

“(Kenny’s) has a secret baked bean recipe that he said will put anybody’s baked beans to shame,” Morrison said.

Mentions of banana pudding and hand cut fries were also brought up and it sounds like the restaurant will be a welcomed addition to the growth of dining options in downtown Morristown.
