Linda Faye Penland-Sawyer, 78, of Morristown, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Linda grew up in the Witt community and professed her faith to Christ at an early age. She worked her entire adult life and retired from Enka/Lenzing. Linda loved going to church, spending time with friends, and visiting the Senior Citizen Center of White Pine. She was also a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents: James H. and Mae Bell Penland; brother: James D. “Jim” Penland and brother-in-law: Charles “Wayne” Wallen.

She is survived by her husband: Christopher Sawyer; beloved twin sister and best friend: Brenda K. Wallen; sister-in-law: Beverly Penland; niece and nephews that she adored: Troy Wallen, Larissa (Shawn) Spoone and Jason (Kristine) Wallen. She is also survived by her great and great great nieces and nephews: Daniel Wallen, Hannah (Lucas) and Lealia Wilcox, Sawyer and Parker Spoone and Kaylee and Jocelyn Wallen.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Morningside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Kenny Boling officiating.

Family and friends will gather at 11:00 am on Friday, March 6, 2026 in the Witt Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside and interment services.
