George Cook III, age 72, of Whitesburg, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.

He was a member of Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Bybee.

George was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Cook; and parents, George II and Martha Cook. He is survived by his son, Jamie (Gina) Russell; daughters, Melinda (Richard Graf) Painter and Melissa Hensley; sisters, Pauline (Mark) Roberts and Debbie Susong; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, April 20th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Allen Payne and Rev. Roger Porter officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21st at Bear Creek Church Cemetery in Bybee for graveside services.
