Two killed in New Market plane crash

Shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, Jefferson County authorities were called to Burchell Road in New Market on reports of a plane crash.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies along with New Market Fire & Rescue, Jefferson County EMS & EMA responded to the scene and discovered a small plane that had crashed into a field.
Firefighters have confirmed that two people on board the aircraft have died.
The plane – a Beechcraft Baron 58 twin-piston – had taken off from the Downtown Island Airport in Knoxville and was reportedly heading to the River’s Edge Airport in Blaine.
Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division are on scene awaiting investigators from the NTSB & FAA.
