Early voting nears 2,800 in Hamblen

Almost 2,800 voters, including 2,687 republicans, have taken advantage of early voting in the May 5 Hamblen County Primary Election.
Approximately 2,796 voters have gone to the Election Commission office and both satellite locations to exercise their voting rights. Percentage-wise, 96.1% of republicans have voted while 3.9%, or 109 voters, have participated in the democratic primary. Among registered voters, 2,687 republicans, or 8.9% have voted in this election; there have been 109 democrats, or 0.4% to vote in this election.
Through April 27, 2022, 3,752 republicans and 148 democrats had voted in the 2022 County Primary.
The highest number of voters have come from Union Heights, with 287 votes. Broken down that is 271 republicans and 16 democrats. Russellville Intermediate has had 283 voters so far with 279 republicans and four democrats. Early voting ends Thursday.
Election Day is Tuesday, May 5.
Early voting hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hamblen County Election Commission, located at 511 West Second North Street in Morristown. Alternative voting locations are for East End residents at the Holston Electric Cooperative Office, located at 6613 East Andrew Johnson Highway in Whitesburg. West End residents wanting to early vote may do so at City of Morristown Public Works Department, located at 4360 Durham Landing in Morristown.
