Almost 1,500 votes cast early in Hamblen

At the end of voting Monday, approximately 1,482 Hamblen County voters have participated in early voting in the May 5 County Primary Elections.
In numbers provided by the Hamblen County Election Commission, 259 citizens voted Monday, broken down into 259 in the Republican primary and nine in the Democratic primary.
At this point, 4.7% of republicans have voted while 0.2% of democrats have voted in this election.
As far as precincts go, Russellville Intermediate had 165 voters, all republicans voting and Alpha Intermediate had 159 voters participate. Alpha Intermediate’s voters were broken down to 147 republicans and 12 democrats.
In comparison, the 2022 County Primary had 343 voters through the first five days of early voting, April 19, 2022. In that election, 331 republicans and 12 democrats through those five days.
While early voting began April 15, the last day to request an absentee ballot is Saturday, April 25 with early voting ending on April 30. Election Day is Tuesday, May 5.
Early voting hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hamblen County Election Commission, located at 511 West Second North Street in Morristown. Saturday early voting hours are from 8 a.m. to noon at the Election Commission Office.
Alternative voting locations are for East End residents at the Holston Electric Cooperative Office, located at 6613 East Andrew Johnson Highway in Whitesburg. West End residents wanting to early vote may do so at City of Morristown Public Works Department, located at 4360 Durham Landing in Morristown.
