Jesse Dale Spears, age 79, of Rutledge, formerly of Elkhorn City, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a member of Lick Creek Church of God in Kentucky and a retired coal miner. He loved classic cars, his family, and especially his grandbabies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Spears and Malissa Francisco; son, Chad Spears; sister, Ann (Danny) Mullins; and niece, Tina Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Karen Spears; children, Joshua (Shala) Dalton, Miranda (Jonathan) Zydel, Jessica (Seth) Thompson, and Gage Griffith; sisters, Leisa (Lawrence) Rose and Leah (Zeb) Hampton; grandchildren, Camden Zydel, Corbin Zydel, Gabe Thompson, and Gracie Thompson; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Roger Williams; and special friends who were like family, Zendel (Pam) Dalton and Autumn Manning.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice of Morristown, especially Erica Eldridge for the excellent care they provided. The family will receive friends from 11a.m. – 1p.m. on Saturday, April 18th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1p.m. with Rev. B.B. Bishop and Jonathan Zydel officiating. Interment services will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery.
