Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announces promotions

Earlier this week, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Jeff Coffey, announced the promotion of three members of the JCSO in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving the citizens of Jefferson County.
Cpl. Patrick Nienast has been promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant and has been assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. Nienast has served with the Sheriff’s Office for more than two years and also serves as a member of the Crisis Negotiator Team.
Dep. Mason Byrd has been promoted to the rank of Corporal and has been assigned to Patrol Shift Alpha. Byrd has been with the Sheriff’s Office for more than four years and currently serves as both a Field Training Officer and Motor Officer.
Dep. Ben Jones has been promoted to the rank of Corporal and has been assigned to Patrol Shift Charlie. Jones has served the Sheriff’s Office for more than four years. In addition to his patrol responsibilities, he serves as a K-9 Handler, working closely with his K-9 partner Storm.
“These promotions reflect the hard work, leadership, and commitment that each of these individuals has demonstrated throughout their careers,” the department said in a release.
The JCSO congratulates Det. Sgt. Nienast, Cpl. Byrd, and Cpl. Jones on their well-deserved promotions and wishes them continued success in their new
roles.
