A tire blowout on a tractor- trailer on Interstate 40 westbound resulted in two people being injured in the traffic resulting from it Wednesday.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, an SUV was hit by the blown tire, which crashed into a truck that was carrying three intow commercial vehicles.

The truck struck the guardrail and a concrete wall on the side of the interstate, resulting in the three vehicles being towed getting loose and rolled down the embankment.

Two people inside the SUV were injured and were taken to area hospitals for treatment. The wreck is still under investigation.
