In a game that came down to the wire, the Tigers were victorious over the Wildcats in the 9-10 year-old Rec League Championship game, winning 22-20 Tuesday night.
The Tigers were led by Kaleb Decesare, who scored 14 points. Cameron Arnold put in six and Connor Jarnigan scored two.
For the Wildcats, Mateo Tamez was good for eight points. Jose Roman and Adrian Duncan scored six apiece.
In the 7-8 year-old semifinals the Seminoles knocked off the previously unbeaten Eagles 28-22.
Bryson Burgin scored seven for the Heels, with Brantley Earls and Chance Seals each contributing six points.
Caleb Shepard finished with five.
The Eagles got eight points form Carson Kragel, six from Julius Morrison and five from Kipton Smith.
In the other 7-8 semi, the Hurricanes bested the Tigers 18-17.
Ryker Davis and Cooper Miller led the ‘Canes with six points apiece. Porter Drinnon scored four and Dylan Banks finished with two.
The Tigers got nine points from Jaxton Ealy, four from Dae Bullard and two from Bryson Emmons.
Tuesday was filled with quarterfinal match ups in the 11-12 age group at John Hay Elementary. The Fighting Illini downed the Spartans 35-25, the Terrapins won 37-35 over the Hawkeyes and the Buckeys took a 24-19 victory over the Wolverines.
The Fighting Illini were led by Wynn Brewer’s 22 points. Bo Laster put in six with Jace Collake adding five.
For the Spartans, Cooper Thomas scored eight, with Ian Carr and Maston Stipes contributing six apiece.
Kayden Shauinger led the Terps with 14 points. Preston Kitts scored eight and Eli Shawn seven.
Dante Hanna had 22 foer the Hawkeyes, with Santos Tamez adding six and Romeo Winsotn five.
The Buckeys got 11 points from Damian Scott and seven from Josh Cooper.
Andrew Victory put in six for the Wolverines, with Jakob Johnson producing four points.
