Football season kicks off tonight with IMAC jamboree in Morristown
The 2019 Inter Mountain Conference football jamboree will be held Friday night at Burke-Toney Stadium beginning at 6 p.m.
There will be four quarters of action including four Lakeway Area schools as Morristown East, Morristown West, Jefferson County and Cocke County will be in action with their junior varsity and varsity teams.
The action will begin at 6 p.m. with West and Cocke County facing off in a junior varsity quarter before West High School is presented with the 2018-19 Larry Williams All-Sports Award between the first and second periods.
The second period will see the varsity Trojans and Big Red square off, with the cheerleading teams for both schools performing during the halftime sessions.
The third period will be a JV frame pitting East against Jefferson County, with the cheer squads from both schools performing before the fourth period, which will see the Hurricanes and Patriots battle in varsity action to close the night.
Admission to the event is $5 per person. No teacher badges or passes will be accepted from any school.
Grainger faces Cherokee tonight in Hawkins County jamboree
CHURCH HILL — Grainger and Cherokee are set to face off on the football field Friday night as part of the Hawkins County Kickoff Classic jamboree to be held at Volunteer High School.
The action begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Cherokee cheerleaders performing before the varsity Grizzlies and Chiefs taking the field immediately following their routine. The Grainger cheer squad will perform after the first quarter prior to the junior varsity teams from Grainger and Cherokee squaring off.
At halftime, five competitions will be held, including fastest skill position player, fastest lineman and longest throw, punt and field goal.
The final two periods will see Volunteer take on Trinity, with the cheerleaders for both schools performing before the third and fourth periods. The varsity squads battle in the third quarter, with the JV teams closing the night in the fourth quarter.
Admission to the event is $5 per person.
Elite 80 Girls Fall League signups underway
The 2019 Elite 80 Girls Fall League for middle school basketball players is now accepting signups for the five-night league this fall.
Games begin on Sept. 7, with Sept. 14, 21, 28 and Oct. 5 being the remaining four dates for games. All games are hosted by Lakeway Christian Academy at the Cornerstone Academy campus in Morristown.
The cost to sign up is $100 per player or $375 for a team. The league is open to all middle school aged girls who are looking to quality competition.

ETSU football single game football tickets on sale now
JOHNSON CITY — The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday that single game tickets for the upcoming 2019 football season are now available to the general public.
Fans can purchase their tickets online by clicking on the ticket link here. Tickets are also available for purchase by calling 423-439-3878. Single game tickets are available in mid-field, gold, silver and bronze level seating. Single game tickets for the season start at $20.
Fans may also purchase a three-game ticket package that features one home game each month from September-November. The games include Austin Peay (Sept. 21), Wofford (Oct. 5) and the final home game of the regular season against Mercer (Nov. 16). The ticket package can be purchased for $60 (Bronze level) or $75 (Silver level).
Following the season-opening road game, the Bucs will return to William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium for three consecutive home games at 7:30 p.m. against Shorter (Sept. 7), VMI (Sept. 14) and Austin Peay (Sept. 21). The six-game home schedule features four Southern Conference foes in VMI (Sept. 14), Wofford (Oct. 5, 3:30 p.m.), The Citadel (Nov. 2, 3:30 p.m.) and Mercer (Nov. 16, 1 p.m.).
