CHURCH HILL — Grainger and Cherokee are set to face off on the football field Friday night as part of the Hawkins County Kickoff Classic jamboree to be held at Volunteer High School.

The action begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Cherokee cheerleaders performing before the varsity Grizzlies and Chiefs taking the field immediately following their routine. The Grainger cheer squad will perform after the first quarter prior to the junior varsity teams from Grainger and Cherokee squaring off.

At halftime, five competitions will be held, including fastest skill position player, fastest lineman and longest throw, punt and field goal.

The final two periods will see Volunteer take on Trinity, with the cheerleaders for both schools performing before the third and fourth periods. The varsity squads battle in the third quarter, with the JV teams closing the night in the fourth quarter.
