The Lakeway Christian Academy girls’ soccer team traveled to Middle Tennessee over the weekend for two road games.
The Lady Lions of LCA faced Culleoka and Zion Christian in a couple of non-district games. They came away with a 3-3 draw against Culleako and a 6-2 victory over Zion Christian.
LCA led Culleako 2-1 at the half and extended the lead to 3-1 against Culleoka but a comeback was in store.
Culleoka knocked in a goal in the 76th minute, then scored off of a penalty kick in the final minute of the game to manage the draw.
“Girls started off really well,” head coach Jason Moyer of LCA said. “We had ball possession and scored two early goals. We just lost our focus a little at the end and let a win get away from us.”
Carli Sawyer, Ryan Fair and Abbey Crutchley each scored a goal for LCA against Culleoka
Fortunately, the Lady Lions grabbed the win they wanted in the match against Zion Christian.
Leading 5-1 at the half, LCA’s defense only allowed one more goal from Zion Christian for the 6-2 victory.
“I’m proud of our girls for coming out and playing really well after scoring the first goal against the run of play,” Moyer said. “We settled into the game nicely and finished really well around the goal. I liked our resilience to come bak off a disappointing tie and end the week with a good win against a team that is ar better than their record indicates.”
Crutchley knocked in four goals against Zion Christian. Sawyer and Fair each added a goal apiece.
