On Thursday night, the Fawns and Katz played in Morristown Little League Softball. The Fawns took care of business, winning 18-2. Their victory was sealed by a huge second inning in which they scored 14 runs.

The Katz were off to a quick start in the top of the first inning. They scored two runs courtesy of four walks. Abbi Reed and Chloe Sands scored in the inning. That would be the only offense for the Katz in the game.

The Fawns doubled up the Katz scoring in the bottom of the first with four of their own. Madisyn Pique, Nyria Boling, Lexi Knight and Kaitlyn Hale scored, and it was all the Fawns would need.

Marley Epps got the start on the mound for the Fawns and earned the win. She was able to minimize the Katz’ threat in the first inning by only allowing two runs. Epps earned the win on the mound.

Pitchers were struggling to find the strike zone all night for the Katz. Sands started the game and was credited with the loss. They used multiple pitchers in the contest and combined to walk 18 batters.

Along with walks, the Fawns stole bases and benefitted from a couple of errors by the Katz. Epps, Pique, Boling, Knight and Hale each scored multiple runs in the game.

The miscues by the Katz were what ultimately gave the Fawns the victory. A single by Knight was the only hit the Fawns had in a game that they scored 18 runs. The Katz were held hitless in the contest.
